Referrals are people you bring to a site or club etc. To make good money online you often need to refer people. You then get a bonus based on their activity.
Let me explain, using the paid social network Yuwie (click here to join for free - it's great!), estimating 1000 page views a month (which isn't hard - I average about 4000 a month on there without much effort)
The
chart below assumes you refer 3 people, and those 3 people refer 3,
then those refer 3, through 10 levels, and each referral gets 1000 page
views for the month, and the month’s RSR is $0.50.
(the
RSR is the Revenue Sharing Rate - how well the site's doing, and the
payment rate: RSR x (Page Views/1000) x Level Percentage = Your
Earnings)

Now, it may take a while to reach that level, but i'm sure you can bring 3 friends, and they can each bring 3 friends etc.
If you don't want to aim that high, this is the same table with just 2 referrals each and only 300 page views:

Now, how do u get referrals?
The most important thing to remember is to use your special referral link - this tells the site (e.g. Yuwie) that it was YOU who introduced the new person!
You can use it in the following ways:
1. Invite all your friends from myspace / facebook / bebo etc, and other
friends through email. Be careful on other social sites though - you may have to disguise your links with something like viral link tracker(free) as myspace and others block links to other sites.

5. Use a link tracker so you know which areas get you the most interest. I use clickaudit - it takes people straight to the required page, but counts how many times each link has been clicked. It's completely free and u can have as many links as u want, even several pointing at the same site!
